The Journal reports on the completion of The Nightingale-Bamford School, located within the Carnegie Hill Historic District on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The two townhouses’ facades were deemed landmarked, and the project was therefore subject to review and approval by the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
Founded in 1920, Nightingale is an independent, all-female, K-12 university-preparatory school with a mission to educate the minds and the hearts of its students in a challenging, vibrant community that prizes academic excellence.
Mc Gowan’s professionalism and consistent level of communication contributed greatly to the successful completion of our project.
– Susie Heller, director of facilities at Nightingale-Bamford School
The Nightingale-Bamford school’s goal is to attain LEED certification. Under the design direction of BRB Architects, the building utilizes many environmentally-conscious materials, including green rooftops, energy-efficient mechanical systems, energy-efficient lighting, and locally-sourced materials.
