Cooke School & Institute

Cooke Institute partners with NYC public, non-public and charter schools in underserved communities. The Cooke School and Institute is a fully ADA-compliant 4-story facility providing private schooling and services to nearly 300 students ages 5-21 with developmental disabilities.

Pre-construction involved the demolition and abatement of an existing one-story building. The new state-of-the-art facility includes separate wings for the Cooke Center Grammar School and the Academy (high school).The building also includes shared spaces such as a gymnasium, cafeteria, a yoga/movement center, a science lab, a tech lab, art and music studios, an outdoor roof play space and an administrative office. 

Finishes include architectural metals, custom millwork, exterior metal panels, roof pavers, exterior windows and curtain wall, glass partitions and railings, skylights, ACT, wood and gypsum ceilings,ceramic tile and stone,carpet and lineoleum flooring, gym flooring, acoustical coatings, barriers and baswaphon ceilings, and painting throughout. 

Specialties include new gymnasium equipment, tackboards, fabric panels and markerboards, smartboards, lockers, folding partitions, kitchen equipment, appliances and window treatments.
