Manhattan Star Academy

Located on the third floor of the Lincoln Square Synagogue, the Manhattan Star Academy is a state-of-the-art, specialized school for developmentally disabled students afflicted with conditions such as autism. For this project the Mc Gowan team leveraged insights into the base building systems learned from completing the ground-up construction of Lincoln Square Synagogue at the same address in 2013.

Brand-new third floor building systems such as low voltage wiring were implemented. The interior installation work entailed demolition of the existing mechanical systems, banquette seating at reception and classroom entrances, a reception area ceiling with custom millwork and lighting for decorative star cutouts, modern glass walls and doors. Interior details include curved gypsum ceilings, fabric panels, epoxy flooring, carpeting and vinyl composition tile, custom metal signage, marker boards, rolling curtains, new plumbing and light fixtures.
