The Leaguers Headquarters

The Leaguers, Inc., one of the largest non-profit organizations in New Jersey, retained Mc Gowan as General Contractor for construction of its new headquarters building in Newark, NJ.

The ground-up 44,000 square foot two-story building is a steel structure with a white brick veneer façade, blue-tinted glass and multi-colored glass accents. In anticipation of a potential future expansion, the building’s structural and architectural design can accommodate the addition of a third floor.

The 22,000 square foot first floor houses The Leaguers’ Head Start preschool, a ballroom, and facilities for after school activities and adult social services. The Leaguer’s executive and administrative offices occupy the second floor. The building’s sub-level houses a parking garage for 75 cars including four handicapped-accessible parking spaces.

The building features two first-floor entrances; the Arlington Avenue entrance serves the Head Start program and the University Avenue entrance serves as the main headquarters' entrance. For security purposes the Head Start entrance and student areas are separated from the sections of the building open to the public. Both entrances are handicapped-accessible via ramps.
