Moise Safra Center

Named for philanthropist Moise Safra, the Moise Safra Center stands 14 stories and encompasses 65,000 square feet. This modern complex for cultural, educational, recreational and spiritual activities is located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

The first floor has lobbies for both the community center and synagogue, along with a café and pantry. In the sub-cellar there is a pool, lounge and men’s locker room. The cellar houses the women’s locker room, a family changing room, group fitness, a wellness center, a treatment room and office space.

The second floor consists of offices and the main level of the larger synagogue. The upper level of that sanctuary is on the third floor, which also has another lounge. The smaller worship space, the library, more office space and a warming pantry are on the fourth floor.

A multi-purpose room, café, offices and another lounge are on the fifth floor, and above that another multi-purpose room, café and offices on the sixth floor.

The seventh floor holds classrooms for art and cooking, a dance and yoga studio, offices and a lounge. A sizeable gym is on the eighth floor.

The ninth floor features a dining lounge and roof terrace, followed by a dining room and kitchen on the tenth floor.  The eleventh floor has another lounge, followed by offices and an outdoor play area on the twelfth floor.

The building envelope has an intricate façade which is a combination of YKK, TGP, and Action Blast Resistant stick systems coupled with Shildan Terra-Cotta panels and Alucoil Aluminum Screens.
