Continuing a long-term relationship with one of New Jersey's largest and most prestigious auto dealerships, Mc Gowan served as General Contractor for the ground-up construction of a new BMW sales and service facility.
The project scope included demolition of a pre-existing structure and construction of a new 28,000 sq ft auto showroom building, with renovation and expansion of the dealership's 10,000 sq ft mechanical and body shop areas.
The new BMW showroom area contains sixteen-foot-high metal-panel ceilings, a customer lounge, an employee cafeteria, offices, bathrooms, parts storage and an enclosed service drive. The adjacent mechanics area features twenty in-ground car lifts, twenty-seven overhead garage doors, an underground exhaust system, a Ryko SoftGloss Maxx car wash with water reclamation system, BMW’s proprietary clinker tile flooring, and a fifty-two-gallon Energy Logic EL-500B waste oil boiler with a 250-gallon storage tank to generate hot water for the entire facility. An under-surface hot water ice melt system with one-inch PEX tubing prevents ice from building up in front of the dealership.
To construct the new auto showroom structure Mc Gowan installed a perimeter concrete footing foundation incorporating a 6” slab-on-grade concrete floor with W/6x6-W2.9x2.9 wire mesh on a crashed stone sub-base. The building features a structural steel frame with Kawneer glazed curtain wall that incorporates PPG Solarban 60 Low-E tempered glass and a Carlisle EPDM roof with 0.060 membrane for the showroom.
